Marion County Court Hierarchy

District Court Name Warning
A Marion County District Court phrase can mean two different things. For Indiana state trial cases, the correct local courts are Circuit Court and Superior Court. For federal matters, Indianapolis is within the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Those federal records are not in Marion County MyCase and are not kept by the Marion County Clerk's Office.

Marion County Court Functions
Marion Superior Court's Civil Division handles general civil cases, juvenile cases, probate, environmental cases, and domestic relations matters. Marion County Court Technology
The courthouse opened in April 2022 as part of the Community Justice Campus and includes current courtroom technology in all courtrooms. In September 2024, Indianapolis and Marion County won a Center for Digital Government Smart Courts Initiative award for integrated digital solutions for court management.
